The Great Hype.
I love holidays- especially Christmas with my fam. So in this post, I am not talking about Christmas or even Thanksgiving.
I am talking about New Years Eves or Labor Days or Memorial Days. Even friggin' Halloween and Fourth of July. What about St. Patrick's Day? or Cinco de Mayo? Those aren't even my heritage. But somehow I feel like a party pooper for not getting waste and acting debauchery embodied. Don't get me wrong about Halloween though, I love dressing up just as much as the next fellow, but I choose to dress up all year round. See picture above (my costume was worn to a Christmas party). But these days listed above are days I feel forced to celebrate or party. What if I don't feel like partying? What if I would rather be home in my robe with my boyfriend playing darts and having a silly dance party in the living room by myself?
Basically, I feel these couple days are overrated and I hate feeling forced to be in the party mood. I did go out last night for New Year's Eve to a nice restaurant with some of the BF's friends. It was very nice. Good food, good wine. But somehow it just doesn't compare to being in pjs with good friends or playing wii sports with someone's sister.
I like starting the New Year with a bang toward being fruitful and prosperous. Maybe its the Chinese in me. But I think its a good time to turn over a new leaf if the leaf needs turning or maybe just giving it a good sweep if it doesn't need to be turned.
Some one once told me, the first 12 days of the year will represent the 12 months of the coming year so get going on those days!! Me? I'm going camping with my boyfriend to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Pretty good start, eh?
